Bajaj Auto  today launched two new variants of Discover 150cc – Discover 150S and Discover 150F. We take a quick look at the new launches that will storm the market in August- September.

Bajaj's Discover 150F has been priced at Rs 58,700, (ex-showroom Pune) whereas Discover 150S (drum variant) will be priced at Rs 51, 720 and the disc brake variant will cost Rs 54,725. At current pricing, Bajaj Discover 150S will be the cheapest in 150 cc offering on sale in India.

"Most commuter bikes today are 100 cc, while some are 125 cc. It is for the first time that commuters will have an option of a strong commuter motorcycle that offers 150cc performance," Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto told CNBC-TV18.

Last week German luxury car maker Audi launched its new sedan A3 priced between Rs 22.95 lakh and Rs 32.66 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The company is betting big on the new model to stretch its leadership in the Indian market. "We think this is the right product for self-driven, young customers in urban environment. Besides, we are also looking to those existing Audi customers who are looking for second car with the A3. We expect 15 percent of our total sales to come from this model," Audi India Head Joe King said.

The A3 is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant powered by a 1.8-litre engine will come at a price of Rs 28.95 lakh. The diesel version of the A3 with a 2-litre engine comes in four variants priced at Rs 22.95 lakh, Rs 25.95 lakh, Rs 29.95 lakh and Rs 32.66 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

 

Tata Zest, which is expected to launch on August 12, is likely to be priced between Rs 4.50 lakh and Rs 7.60 lakh.

The compact sedan from Tata Motors ' stable, was first shown ahead of the Auto Expo. The Zest is a CS version of the Bolt hatchback.

The petrol variant will have 1.2-litre Revtron engine, while the diesel variant has the 1.3-litre Quadrajet diesel. Transmission options include the five-speed manual and an AMT -- a first for Tata, particularly in this segment.

On August 11, 2014, Bajaj Auto closed at Rs 2129.20, up Rs 7.85, or 0.37 percent. The 52-week high of the share was Rs 2363.90 and the 52-week low was Rs 1683.35.


The company's trailing 12-month (TTM) EPS was at Rs 112.16 per share as per the quarter ended June 2014. The stock's price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio was 18.98. The latest book value of the company is Rs 332.04 per share. At current value, the price-to-book value of the company is 6.41.
