Special CBI Judge OP Saini announced, "I find that examination of these witnesses is necessary for just decision of the case. The application is allowed in total and all the 13 individuals are summoned."

In a reaction to CNBC-TV18, Supreme Court advocate Prashant Bhushan said that the decision to summon Anil Ambani would not weaken the case and added that it was clear that all the decisions regarding Swan Telecom's application for spectrum licence were taken by Anil Ambani.
Legal expert Majeed Memon, in response to the court's decision to summon witnesses, retorted, "Why did the CBI not summon Anil and Tina Ambani right at the start? I cannot understand why the CBI is summoning Anil Ambani at the end of the trial."
Memon clarified that a court could not call new witnesses after the framing of charges and pointed out that the trial would not end if the prosecution continued to summon new witnesses. "The CBI must file a new chargesheet if it has unearthed new information."
Subramanian Swamy, one of the original petitioners in the 2G scam case, said that justice and not delays in the trial process was important. "This is not a list just put together by the CBI. The list of witnesses was approved by the court and the summons were sent out under Section 311 of the CrPC. During his deposition to the court as witness, Anil Ambani may also get arrested. The relationship between Swan Telecom and Anil Ambani has to be settled."
