In a CNBC-TV18 interview, Sanjay Nayyar, KKR India shared his views on what would be expected from the new government in power by the industry per se and the foreign investors.

Below is Sanjay Nayyar, KKR India interview on CNBC-TV18 with Menaka Doshi and Senthil Chengalvarayan.

Q: Are you enthused with what has happened in terms of a decisive mandate?What would be on your to do list for this government, the top three things they need to do in the next three months?

A: The elections results is a game changer in a way because it is not just a coalition government but there is clear majority, which makes a big difference because there are no longer any trade offs.

The country needs real capacity building in every aspect and that is no.1 thing which will involve both executive and legislative decisions. So there is a bit of mellowing to be done there.

Q: Do you think when FIIs look at this mandate; it will give them the comfort to come back to India in heaps as opposed to what has been gone on in last 2-3 years?

A: It depends on what kind of foreign capital; people haven't run away from India either. I think we need to give really good signals to the foreigners, especially those who represent long-term strategic capital, solve all the old tax cases. They can make one big announcement.

So, I think decisiveness is key and not just the impression of doing trade-offs all the time howsoever well meaning they were.

So if one can build capacity in this country be it infrastructure, agriculture, capital - capacity building is required everywhere because otherwise the opportunity is never going to play out.
