India is very important in Google's global footprint, Rajan Anandan, MD, Google India said.
Search giant Google says it is actively looking to partner with the government for the Digital India drive and that India will be the second largest market for Google. In an interview to CNBC-TV18's Kritika Saxena, Rajan Anandan, MD, Google India spoke about the company's growth plans.

Q: What is your take on the 'Digital India' drive?
A: We are very excited about the Digital India initiative that the government has. We announced about three months ago that we have a partnership with the government on the digital India initiative. So, we are working very closely with the government on many aspects of the Digital India initiative getting content online, we launched the Indian language internet alliance with many of the largest publishers as well as technology companies and the government. We are working with the government on getting the history and culture online; we are working with the government with a number of very exciting online education initiatives etc.
Q: How important is India in Google's global footprint currently?
A: Very important. At the end of this month India will cross 300 million internet users and over the next year we are going to be significantly bigger than the US in terms of the number of connected users. So it is really China, India, US.
