Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Prithviraj Chavan insisted that such steps would go a long way in making the state a torchbearer as far as investment is concerned. He also said there would be huge tax breaks for mega and ultra mega projects.

The highlights of the policy include constructing helipads in industrial zones of MIDCs. Women, Scheduled castes and tribes, womens' self help groups involved in production in the MIDC industrial zones will be given priority for allotment of land upto five percent.
The draft policy was approved after a cabinet meeting that saw comprehensive and detailed discussions on the issues involved. The draft policy had been pending with the Chief Minister's office for nearly a year. The policy aims to boost the growth of industrial production sector to 11-12 percent every year. The endeavour will be to increase the share of industrial sector in the Gross state domestic product (GSDP) from 18 to 28 percent.
The plan is also to develop Mumbai-Nashik Aurangabad-Amravati-Nagpur, Mumbai-Pune-Solapur, Mumbai-Ratnagiri- Sindhudurg corridors in addition to the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor.
