Maha CM to okay infra projects worth Rs 5k cr

In an attempt to boost crucial infrastructure projects in Maharahstra, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has announced that projects to the tune of Rs 5,000 crore will be approved in 2013.

Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Chavan said that these projects primarily include the metro and mono-rail projects that have been stuck for the last few years. "In calendar year 2013, we will inaugurate and commission projects including road connectivity and metro-monorail projects, more than Rs 5,000 crore."

The Maharashtra Chief Minister also added that a dispute resolution mechanism would be established. To lure investment and boost competition, Chavan explained that projects would be tendered out in small parts and projects would also be offered on an EPC basis.
