Here's how automotive companies fared the last month:
Maruti Suzuki September sales up 12%
The country's largest car-maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) today reported 11.7 percent increase in total sales in September at 1,04,964 units as against 93,988 units in the same month last year.
The company said its domestic sales increased by 1.8 percent during the month to 90,399 units as against 88,801 units in September last year. Sales of mini segment cars, including M800, Alto, A-Star and WagonR, increased by 4.9 percent to 41,061 units, as compared to 39,150 units in the year-ago month, MSI said in a statement.
Mahindra & Mahindra September sales down 10%
Auto-maker Mahindra & Mahindra today reported a 10.45 percent decline in its total sales at 43,289 units in September, 2013. The company had sold 48,342 units in the same month last year, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) said in a statement.
In September this year, M&M's domestic sales stood at 40,574 units as against 45,263 units in the same month last year, down 10.35 percent. Total sales of passenger vehicles, including Scorpio, XUV500, Xylo, Bolero and Verito, stood at 18,916 units as against 23,808 units in September, 2012, 20.54 percent.
Hero MotoCorp sales rise 16%
Hero MotoCorp today reported 15.78 per cent rise in total
sales at 4,68,670 units for September this year. In the same month last year, it had sold 4,04,787 units, Hero MotoCorp said in a statement.

Anil Dua said: "Our performance in September is a result of
the strong retail growth we have reported throughout the first
half of this financial year. Our 16 percent growth in despatch sales in September has come on the back of a consistent 7 per cent growth in our retails this year."
General Motors India sales down over 4%
General Motors India today reported 4.79 per cent decline in sales at 7,048 units in September 2013. The company had sold 7,403 units in the same month of 2012, GM India said in a statement.
Last month's sales include 2,826 units of Beat, 1,894 units of Sail, 1,543 units of Enjoy, it added.
Commenting on sales performance, GM India Vice-President P Balendran said: "The market continues to remain depressed due to weak economic conditions, negative market sentiments and various other factors. Although we have generated volumes for the Beat as expected, our overall sales figures are not on the expected lines as we had temporarily stopped production and sale of Tavera."
Honda Cars India Ltd sales up 88%
Honda Cars India Ltd today reported 88 percent increase in its domestic sales at 10,354 units for September 2013. The company had sold 5,508 units in the same month last year, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) said in a statement.
During September, the company sold 2,043 units of its sedan City and 1,452 units of small car Brio. It also sold 46 units of premium sedan Accord. Besides, HCIL sold 6,679 units of its latest sedan Amaze last month.
Commenting on the numbers, HCIL Senior Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Jnaneswar Sen said: "Honda Cars have outperformed despite a consistent slump in the demand for passenger cars over the past eight months. We are happy to see the huge demand for the Honda Amaze and Brio. The sales figures have set a positive tone for the upcoming festive season."
Mahindra tractor sales up 33%
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd today said its total tractors sales increased by 33 per cent to 26,637 units in September. The company had sold a total of 20,085 units in September 2012, M&M said in a filing with the BSE.
Domestic tractor sales were up 37 percent at 25,922 units as against 18,908 units in the same month last year. Exports were, however, down by 39 per cent to 715 units as against 1,177 units in September last year.
Commenting on the monthly performance, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd Chief Executive (Tractor and Farm Mechanisation) Rajesh Jejurikar said: "On the back of a good monsoon, we are delighted with a 37 per cent growth in tractor sales despite the traditionally low buying period in September. We see a healthy growth continuing over the next couple of months."
