Need to differentiate services, arrest attrition: Infosys

Infosys has one of the highest attrition rates in the Indian IT industry at 19.5 percent, a trend that the software firm terms "worrisome".

UB Pravin Rao, chief operating officer,  Infosys says the company needs to focus on growth in the competitive market.

Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Rao says the company needs to differentiate its services better and figure out how well to execute margin requirements.

"Technology shifts are happening much faster so how quickly we are able to reach people to get the advantage of some of the technological shifts that are happening. So, all these I believe over a period of time help us in getting back the growth, where we wanted to be," says Rao.

Another issue worrying the IT behemoth is the attrition levels it faces. Infosys has one of the highest attrition rates in the Indian IT industry at 19.5 percent, a trend that the software firm terms "worrisome".

"Our belief is that it (attrition) will show a decline in trend over a period of time but it will take a few quarters before it reaches where we want to be. Historically, our attrition has always been about 13-15 percent, that's where our comfort zone is," he adds.

The company's trailing 12-month (TTM) EPS was at Rs 177.52 per share as per the quarter ended March 2014. The stock's price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio was 18.73. The latest book value of the company is Rs 733.03 per share. At current value, the price-to-book value of the company is 4.54.
